Auto Theme Sync ships with sensible defaults. Most merchants do not need to read any docs to get running. This page is here for the teams that want a deeper look at how the app works.

Install

1. Install the app from the Shopify App Store.
2. Approve the requested theme read/write scopes.
3. The app opens to a Sync page seeded with the themes in your store.

Run a sync

1. Pick a source theme — usually the one you just edited.
2. Pick one or more target themes.
3. Select the files to sync. You can pick a whole category (sections, snippets, templates, assets) or individual files. Use the search box to filter long lists.
4. Review the diff preview. Files identical between source and target are skipped.
5. Click Sync. Progress streams in real time.

Excluded files

By default, config/settings_data.json and config/settings_schema.json are excluded so the customizer settings of the target theme are never overwritten. You can edit the exclude list under Settings.

Sync profiles (Pro)

Save a source theme + target list + file pattern as a profile. Re-run it with one click, or schedule it (hourly, daily, weekly) so updates flow automatically.

Backup and rollback (Pro)

On the Pro plan, every sync stores the prior content of each affected file. From the History page you can rewind a sync to undo it.

Limits

• The free plan covers 5 sync runs per month and one target theme per run.
• The Pro plan removes both limits.
• The app respects the Shopify Admin API rate limit. Large theme syncs pace themselves rather than failing.

Uninstall

Removing the app from Apps → Settings → Apps and sales channels revokes the OAuth token and triggers automatic deletion of all data we hold for your shop.
